Cyber Monday and Christmas Shopping

I was on the computer for hours yesterday, but I had no time to write.  I was doing my Christmas shopping.

I learned a few years ago that online shopping was the way to go.  At least for me.  I don’t like crowds.  I hate the cold.  I’m not a patient line-waiter.  In short, I’m the scrooge of all Christmas shoppers.  If I have to buy these things that people don’t really need, at least let me do it in the comfort of my own home.  With a hot cup of coffee.  Or a cold glass of wine.

You think you find bargains in the mall?  Try having the world wide web help you shop for bargains.  This time of year, you can almost always find sites with free shipping.  Then there are the sites that comparison shop for you.  If you know what you’re buying, plug in the item description and you’ll get an array of online stores and the prices each one is charging.  Instead of rushing around from one crowded parking lot to the next, you simply need to click onto the next site if your item is out of stock at the first place.  And the presents are delivered right to the door.  Want to save more?  Look for promotional codes in sites like retailmenot.com or couponcabin.com.

It’s easier to shop online now that the kids are grown.  When they were little, it was almost worthwhile to stand outside of ToysRUs at the break of dawn on Black Friday.  I could always find some neat games or gadgets that I knew they’d love.  They would even wear the clothes I picked out.  Now, I have to ask them EXACTLY what they want.  And even then, they can hardly think of anything.

It’s just not so much fun.  Like last night, I had to text Youngest Son to ask him what size UnderArmour coldgear he wears.  He wrote the color and the style down, but forgot to mention whether Medium or Large.  Bet he’ll be really surprised on Christmas morning.

Tomorrow mom and I are hitting up the real mall near my house.  It’s a weekday morning so it shouldn’t be too bad.  I have a $10 Victoria Secret birthday coupon they sent me, and it’s Senior Citizen discount day at Bon-Ton for my mom.  With some luck, this will bring my 2008 Christmas shopping to its conclusion.

I would go with the medium on the underarmour… if it’s small it’ll emphasize the muscles he has… =P

also….if you need some help with Soldier Son, I got some ideas when we were out on black Friday.

Plus, if you ever need to go to the mall, and I’m available, I’ll be more than happy to go with you. Girls day!!! WEE! =D

I’m SO with you – been shopping online for years. My mail lady hates me. 🙂

I’d like to add that this year, retailers are not stopping with only offering great discounts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Many coupon codes have been extended throughout the month of December and into January. CouponCowgirl.com is another site that is easy to use and lets you know when the codes can be stacked on top of one another to gain the best deal.
